Since its inception in 2004, the MA has turned a small patch of waste land into the leafy and abundant green of the Marchmont Street Community Garden. A large number of residents and passersby have enjoyed the Marchmont Street Parties.
The Association has successfully campaigned for healthier and safer streets for everyone in the area – we still do.

And if you have seen the Marchmont Association blue plaques that commemorate our illustrious forbearers from the past – from the Pankhursts, Virginia Woolf and Kenneth Williams to Mary Shelley, Jerome K Jerome and Vladimir Lenin (and many others) – then you’ll see why we and our visitors value this part of the Bloomsbury Conservation Area as being a very special place.
We supported our former chairman Ricci de Freitas to publish 4 books about the area which are available from local bookshops.
